Control the number of programs that start when you boot up your system

Your PC might be loading up programs that make the boot process slower than necessary, and possibly run a little slower after booting is complete. To fix this, click on the start button, then click Run...  Type msconfig in the Run dialog box, then click OK.  In the resulting System Configuration Utility dialog box, select the Startup tab.  You can look through that list and un-check any program that you would not like to automatically start up with your system.  If you don't know what the program does, it is probably best to leave it checked.  You probably don't want to un-check your anti-virus and anti-spyware programs.

When you re-start your system, a System Configuration Utility dialog box will pop up.  It contains many words.  If you put a check in the box, and click on OK, it won't be bothering you any more.  If you happen to go back into the System Configuration Utility again, you will notice that all the un-checked programs in the Startup tab will be at the bottom of the list, making them easy to find if you want them to run at boot-up again.
